about standing in the gap

Standing in the Gap is a Christian fellowship for college students. We meet on the campuses of Central Michigan University and Saginaw Valley State University, and coming in the Fall of 2011, Ferris State University. Our purpose is to be and make disciples of Jesus Christ. We do this in four ways:

  1. We have all kinds of things planned for weekends and evenings where people can come and have a great time and meet new friends. Tailgating before football games, bowling, dances, game nights, parties, service projects, etc. are just a few of the activities we do.

  2. Our main meetings are Wednesday nights at 7:30 pm. The focus of these meetings is for Christians to be built up and encouraged in their faith, and for non-Christians to learn more about what it is that Christians mean when they say they are Jesus' disciples. Worship is also a primary focus of our meetings.

  3. During the week, we have small group meetings designed for Christians who want to go deeper in their faith. We call these groups "Equipping Groups", because in them, people are equipped to begin ministering to peers themselves.

  4. Lastly, we give students the opportunity to develop and use any leadership skills and gifts God has given them. Leadership is crucial to the success of any group, especially a ministry. Therefore, training and developing leaders is a large focus of our group.
